For grown-ups

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026

The short version: Tuki is a parent-managed creativity app for children. It has no advertising, public gallery or social features, and we do not sell personal data. We use information only as described in this policy to provide, protect and support Tuki.

1. Who we are

Tuki is operated by Tuki Technologies Ltd (company number 17425976) ("Tuki", "we", "us" or "our"). Questions and privacy requests can be sent to hello@tukikids.com.

2. Tuki is for families

Tuki is designed for a child to use with a parent or guardian. The adult should set up and manage the app, supervise any content submitted through it, and use the grown-up area. We apply high-privacy defaults and ask only for information needed to provide, protect and improve the service.

Apart from a first name or nickname a grown-up may give during setup, children should not include faces, names, school details, addresses, contact details or anything else that identifies them or another person in drawings, photos or animation ideas. A grown-up should check content before it is submitted.

3. Information involved when you use Tuki

InformationHow it is used
Drawings, animations and other contentContent that an adult chooses to submit or create using Tuki is processed to provide the requested service. Drawings, completed animations and the motion instruction submitted for an animation are saved privately to the adult’s account and may also be cached on the device.
Child profile and setup answersDuring setup, the adult can give their child’s first name or a nickname and choose an age range, along with answers about goals and drawing habits. We use these to personalise challenges, the drawing plan, wording in the app and membership offers. They are saved to the adult’s account and deleted with it.
Camera and photo library accessUsed only when the adult chooses to capture or select content. The adult can change these permissions in device settings.
Activity informationInformation about activities selected in Tuki may be processed to provide the chosen features.
Service, device and diagnostic dataWe and our service providers may process a service identifier, IP address, device and app version, language, timestamps, request logs, security signals and crash or diagnostic information, depending on the active service and device settings. We use this to provide Tuki, prevent misuse and fix problems.
App usageHow Tuki is used, such as screens viewed, features used and setup answers chosen, so we can understand and improve the app.
Adult account and contact dataFor adult accounts, we process the adult's email address, account identifier and sign-in information. If you contact support, we receive your email address, message and anything you choose to attach.
Membership dataThe relevant payment provider handles payment details. We receive subscription status, product, renewal and transaction identifiers needed to provide allowances and restore purchases. We do not receive full card details.

Optional animation ideas

When animation ideas are enabled, selecting or taking a photo sends a smaller version of that image to OpenAI to suggest ways the drawing could move. This analysis can begin before you confirm the photo or choose to animate it. Please check for faces, names and other personal details before selecting a photo.

You can choose a suggested motion, enter your own idea or leave the motion blank. When you animate using your own idea, we send that text and a smaller version of the image to OpenAI to expand it into an animation instruction. OpenAI also checks nonempty motion instructions for safety before they are sent to the video-generation provider. We do not send the adult’s account details, the child’s profile or questionnaire answers with these requests.

We request that suggestion and custom-idea expansion responses are not stored as retrievable API responses. This does not itself enable Zero Data Retention: OpenAI may retain content for abuse monitoring under its applicable API data controls. OpenAI’s data controls and safety exceptions are described in its API data documentation. We do not save the suggestion preview image or the list of suggestions on our servers, or include drawing content and motion text in diagnostic logs.

Your submitted motion instruction and the final instruction used for generation are saved with the private creation so a failed animation can be retried consistently. Deleting the creation or account removes those stored instructions along with its drawing and animation. Per-account request counters help prevent misuse; these contain counts and timestamps, not drawings or suggestion text.

4. Why we process information

We process information to provide requested challenges and animations, save results to the device, keep Tuki secure, diagnose faults, answer support messages, comply with law and administer an adult’s membership. We also use information to personalise challenges and the drawing plan, and to understand how Tuki is used so we can improve it. Depending on the context, our legal basis is performance of our contract with the adult, our legitimate interests in operating a safe and reliable service, legal obligations, or consent where the law requires it.

We do not sell personal data, serve advertising, build advertising profiles, or provide public galleries, messaging or social features.

5. When information may be shared

We require service providers to handle information only for agreed purposes and with appropriate protections. They may process information in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area, United States or other countries. Where required, we rely on recognised transfer safeguards and contractual protections.

6. Retention and deletion

Content saved on a device remains there until the adult removes it or deletes the app or its data. We keep content and related service records only for as long as reasonably needed to provide and secure the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce agreements.

Support messages are normally kept while we handle the request and for a reasonable period afterwards. Account and membership records are retained while active and for as long as needed for legal, fraud-prevention, accounting and support purposes.

7. Security

We use technical and organisational safeguards intended to protect information, including encrypted network transport, access controls and limits on how information may be used. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so adults should also protect the device with a passcode and review content before submission.

8. Your and your child's rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, or withdraw consent. A parent or guardian can exercise rights for their child by emailing hello@tukikids.com. We may need to verify the adult's identity and relationship to the child.

In the UK, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. More information is available from the ICO's children's privacy guidance. Families in the United States can learn more from the FTC's children's privacy information.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Tuki develops or the law changes. We will publish the revised version here, update the date above and provide additional notice when a change is important.
